Book by Terrence McNally Music by David Yazbek Lyrics by David Yazbek
The musical The Full Monty, very similar to its movie predecessor, gets transplanted from the film's English location to Buffalo, New York, (No British accents) where a mill has just shut its doors. Seeing how much their wives enjoy watching male strippers during their "Girls' Night Out," a group of unemployed steelworkers come up with a bold way to make some quick cash. In the process they find renewed self-esteem, the importance of friendship and the ability to ‘let it go’. What starts as a hilarious moneymaking scheme turns out to be so much more. As the guys work through their fears, self-consciousness, feelings of worthlessness and anxieties (over everything from being overweight, child custody, bigotry to being gay), the men find renewed self-esteem, companionship, and a strong focus on what's important in their lives.
