Avon Players Youth Theatre FAQ

Who are the directors?
Mary Bogrette (Director/Choreographer), Dave Frobel (Music Director)

When are the auditions?
Auditions are Monday, April 19 from 4:30-7:00, Performance dates are July 9-11

Where can I find the script?
There are copies at the Rochester Hills Public Library.

What do I need to prepare for the audition?
Students do not need to bring anything prepared.  Students will learn a song from the show, a short movement combination and perform an acting audition.  Students must be able to read from a script.

What should I wear to the auditions?
Dress for comfort!  If you have jazz or character shoes, bring them.  Do not go out and purchase new shoes for the audition!  Auditioners should have hair pulled back so we can see their face.  Shirts without words/pictures are less distracting.

Can I bring something to eat?
Auditioners will have time for a snack/light dinner in the lobby when they are not on stage auditioning.

Do I have to stay the entire time?
Students can be excused at anytime, but we need to see students complete all parts of the audition in order to consider them for a role.  We are not able to stop the audition process and make accommodations for one child.

What if my child can't make auditions?
Students unable to audition can still apply to be on crew.  Students must be present at auditions to be cast in the show.  There is no alternate audition date.

How will I know if I made it?
Students will be notified by e-mail or phone.

When do rehearsals start?
The Monday following the auditions!

When are rehearsals?
They will be on Monday’s from 4:30 – 6:30, April 26 – June 14. (No rehearsal Memorial Day) More often once school is out. (Please see rehearsal date for specific dates and times)

What is the cost of tuition/membership?
$250.00 per student with a discounts for multiple child families and will include the Youth Theatre Experience

What is the Youth Theatre Experience?
A series of workshops incorporated within the rehearsal schedule that will focus on the student development of Improvisation, creative dramatics, movement, voice workshops, theatrical design and more.
