How do I get involved at your theatre?

The best way is to become a member (see the Members tab) and let us know in which production area you are interested. Directors will contact you when there’s a need in that area, so you can participate in their respective productions. As a member, you can house manage and usher too. There are perks to being a member, such as free tickets to each show.

You can also participate in “set builds”. On most Tuesdays and some Fridays, we always need volunteers to help with tasks related to our set, and we appreciate any hands to make our work light. Contact the Box Office to confirm times.

Lastly, you can also join the Facebook group Avon Players to keep up with internal communications. We often need volunteers for all kinds of things!

Can I direct at Avon?

Avon prefers that director candidates have assistant-directed two shows at Avon before nominating themselves as a director; however, we have also accepted directorial candidates who have presented an extensive resume of shows directed elsewhere.

Avon asks for director submissions in the fall, at which time directors may submit their bids. The Board votes for the following season at our December board meeting. Directors must be members in the season that they direct.

Do you take costume or prop donations?

We normally do not take donations, unless you have something incredibly rare or unusual! Contact production@avonplayers.org for more information.

Do you sell gift certificates?

We do! Certificates are available in any denomination and your recipient can redeem the certificate at the Box Office. Contact the Box Office either by phone or email for more information.

I have a business- can I advertise in your program?

Absolutely! Your advertisement has the potential to reach over 10,000 patrons in a season! There are also benefits for season advertisement subscribers as well. Contact community@avonplayers.org for more information.

Do you rent out your theatre?

Since we like to keep a full season, there’s not really an open time where we can rent out our theatre. We are constantly producing shows and when not producing, we are getting ready for a new production!

Do you donate to other non-profit organizations?

Since we are a non-profit ourselves, we limit to where we donate. If you are local to the Rochester area, please contact boxoffice@avonplayers.org for more information.

I have a child interested in theatre- how can I get them involved?

We always have a youth summer program. Check that tab under Current Season closer to summer for more information. Occasionally, there will be a need for a younger actor in our normal season. You will see the ages required under a show’s characters for each show.
